- 3/4 cup unsalted butter (melted (1.5 sticks))
- 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
- 1/4 tsp flaky sea salt (for topping)

Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang on two sides for easy removal. Lightly grease.

In a large bowl, whisk melted butter and sugar together. Add eggs one at a time, whisking well after each. Stir in vanilla. The mixture should be smooth and slightly thick.

Sift cocoa powder, flour, and salt over the wet ingredients. Fold gently with a spatula until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips if using.

Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Bake 22-25 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).

Cool completely in the pan before cutting — at least 30 minutes. Use the parchment overhang to lift out for cleaner cuts.
